A2Z PROFILE
Founded by bass player Eric Michael, A2Z started off as a new wave group playing around colleges and universities in the late 80's.
They found much respect when they placed 1st runner-up in the Yamaha Band Explosion upon which producer Chito Ilacad signed them a record deal under Octoarts. The self-titled album produced the singles "Magandang Umaga Pilipinas", "Melancholic Melody", "Red China", which enjoyed airplays around the country.
On 1991 Winbert Chua was called to do vocals on A2Z's second self-titled album, now under Alpha Records, which produced two hit singles, "Joan" and "Please Stay". The album earned them a local following among campuses around southern Philippines.
In the summer of 1996 a change of line-up marked the addition of Juel Z on drums and guitar virtuoso Mel Santiago. A2Z went on to record their 3rd album "Life" which was released under DYNA records. Its singles "Demokrasya" and "Alab ng Puso", though never charted, garnered a new legion of rock fans around the country. This erased the band's new wave image and transforms them into a multi-genre group.
Year 2007, A2Z release their first indipendent album entitled "KAPILING MULI" under Nicadawn Towers Records, that shows A2Z's new directions toward style and maturity in music.
Year 2009, A2Z will release their fifth album entitled ESSENCE OF A2Z. A selections of their best music from the first and last album, together with their new single PHENOMENA, RAINY DAYS and more....!
Plans of a nationwide tour are now in the works to support the album.
A2Z has come a long way yet as one put it, "This is just the beginning!”
